Since late last year, Islamophobic incidents have been increasing in number, particularly after the largest ever terror raids of September 2014 in Australia.

Anti-Muslim groups such as the Australian Defense League and Party for Freedom have become much more vocal and have ignited hate campaigns against Muslims including Halal certification. This has affected Muslim Australians from all walks of life and has also encouraged scholarly research into anti-Muslim behavior in Australia in order to understand the phenomenon. Despite minority anti-Muslim groups, fellow Australians are choosing to support Muslims and discourage racist behaviour.
