A man has been brutally assaulted by BGP and his house burned for organising a Muslim religious sermon in Nara Bil, Maungdaw North.

Md Rafique s/o Md Harun held the programme on Friday. Some Rakhine men uncomfortable with the programme complained to the BGP.

The next day BGP arrested and assaulted Harun. During the beatings, Harun received multiple injuries all over his body.

He was later released on payment of 500,000 kyats.

At the same time, some Rakhines went into the village and burned his house down, totally destroying it.

BGP later assaulted some other men in the village who had attended the programme.
