The government has forcefully tried to introduce the Ahbash sect on the Muslim population of Ethiopia.

It has fired many Imams and mosque committees who did not conform to the Ahbash ideology. On several instances of protests the government has killed Muslims in places like Gerba, Assasa, Kofele and Harar. Mass imprisonments have taken place thought the country.

The committee members which were elected by Ethiopian Muslims to discuss Muslims grievances have been behind bars for over 3 years. They have undergone deplorable torture. Their final verdict is expected to come tomorrow on 29.06.2015.

On Friday 26.06.2015 Muslims have protested at Grand Anwar Mosque in Addis Ababa peacefully. They have sent out messages that the verdict is not just on the committee members but on the whole of Ethiopian Muslims who have been subject to government repression.
