Burma Times - Three women belonging to the same family have been sexually abused by police as they were travelling to Maungdaw town for medical treatment.

On Saturday, the two sisters and their mother went out from their home in Godusera to the town after getting the proper permission from the authorities. Under the laws of the state, Rohingingya Muslims must secure permission from authorities when travelling from one area to another.

In one point of the journey, the police stopped and started searching them. During the search, the police began touching their private body parts. One of the sisters, a 19 year woman protested. This angered the police who started beating the women up.

The police then proceeded to search the women’s private parts before letting them go.
